LADWP, Haynes Repowering Project
The Haynes Repowering Project modernized how residents of Los Angeles receive their electricity. By updating the technology at the Haynes Generating Station, the plant became more reliable and cleaner. The project used simple-cycle gas turbine technology to give the facility quicker start times on the generators and increase efficiency, power output and load range. This project also eliminated once-through ocean water cooling since the new turbines required less cooling. The plans for the project included a connection to the Long Beach Water Reclamation Plant to bring recycled water to the Haynes Generating Station.
Twining provided Kiewit with our Quality Control services. This included providing soil compaction tests several times a week for the duration of the project.
