Rialto Bioenergy Facility (RBF)
Construction is nearing completion on the $185 million Rialto Bioenergy Facility (RBF). When it’s completed it will be North America’s largest organics processing facility. The facility is being built in collaboration with owner Anaergia and Waste Management, Republic Services, Southern California Edison, Anaheim Public Utility, Southwest Gas Utility, City of Rialto, the Sanitation Bureau of the City of Los Angeles, and the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County and of Orange County. It aims to provide the entire Southern California region with a solution for the diversion of 300,000 tons of organic waste per year. It is being co-funded by the California Energy Commission, U.S. Department of Energy, CalRecycle, State of California, and significant private investments.
In 2022 this project received international recognition by winning the Distinction Award for Wastewater Project of the Year at the Global Water Awards in Madrid, Spain.
Twining is providing materials testing and inspection services for this award-winning project. Our scope also includes providing geotechnical engineering throughout the construction of the project as well.
